Stolzle Lausitz
1433 The first local glassworks were documented producing the brownish and greenish 'forest' glass. It was the 'light gold' of the sand of the Lausitz region which favoured this developemnet thanks to its ready availability in both quantity and quality. Even today this local sand plays an important role in our high quality crystal production.
Around 1900 The foundation of numerous glassworks in the region led to a worldwide unique concentration of production sites for hollow galss products.
Around 1930, the 'Lausitz' area developed into the biggest glass producing region of Europe. Design and product developement was decisively influenced by the 'Bauhaus' pioneer Prof. Wilhelm Wagenfeld. Wagenfeld set new directions and guidlines and created perfectly shaped industrial glasses, setting the trend for modern glass design.
Now, based on this tradition, Stolzle Lausitz today produces around 27 million glasses per year. Quality characteristics like lead free and dishwasher-safe crystal have contributed to the fact that s leading high quality crystal glass manufacturers supplying to all the major export markets
